Decatur County 911 went on line October 19, 1995. Our 9 Board members are appointed by the County Mayor and County
Commission, and serve without compensation.
Monthly sur charge:
$.65 residence, $2.00 business and $1.00 cell. This pays for utilities, supplies , equipment, maintenance on building and
equipment, and director's salary.
911 Is A Central Dispatch For:
Parsons Police Department
Decaturville Police Department
Scotts Hill Police Department
Decatur County EMS / First Responders
Rescue Squad
9 fire stations
Forestry
After hour calls for water, gas, street, county highway department, and state highway
department.
Wrecks--Tennessee Highway Patrol and wrecker service.
Alarms -- Provide watches/warnings for:
Schools, when in session
All sheriff and police departments
Nursing homes
Emergency Medical Services
Rescue Squad
Fire departments
Day care centers
Operators qualifications:
Must be 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, high school graduate or GED. The individual must not have any felony convictions.
All operators have psychological evaluations, same as law enforcement officers. All operators have drug tests and their
fingerprints are on file with TBI and FBI.
Training:
CPR certified.
EMD--Emergency Medical Dispatch 40 hours
Basic Communication 40 hours
NCIC--National Crime Information Center 40 hours
HazMat--Hazardous Materials 16 hours
8 weeks of working with a certified operator before being on shift.
Operators answer:
2 911 lines
2 911 wireless lines
3 Administrative lines (1 with call waiting)
1 line for sheriff department and are able to transfer 2 other lines.
Operators use 3 computers.
